Privacy policy

1. Information collected & why

You can browse the public website without creating an account. Information is collected when you submit a form, upload a document, or contact me. Your attorney, agency or other authorized representative may also provide information for your assignment.

Contact and professional information

Your name, email address, phone number, firm or organization, and whether you request rates as an individual, law firm or agency. This information is used to respond, provide the appropriate rates, arrange services and maintain related correspondence.

Booking and assignment information

The requested service, date, start time, duration, remote or in-person preference, project details, urgency and NDA request. This information is used to assess availability and scope, prepare quotations, coordinate an assignment and administer the client relationship.

Documents, messages and other materials you provide

Uploaded file contents, filenames, file types and sizes, and information in your messages. Depending on what you provide, materials can contain sensitive information, such as government identifiers, financial or health information, religious or ethnic information, or information about other people. These materials are used to evaluate and perform the requested language services and meet related professional or legal obligations. Please provide only what is needed.

Technical and request records

The website’s hosting and security services may receive your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referral information, and access times. When you submit a booking or rate request, the site stores a hashed version of your IP address to limit abuse, along with a request identifier, timestamp and status. A hash is a transformed identifier; it is not a guarantee of anonymity. Email delivery identifiers and status may be stored when automatic email is enabled.

Technical information is used to deliver and protect the website, prevent spam, diagnose problems and manage requests. Required form fields are identified on each form. Optional documents and organization details may be omitted; without required information, I may be unable to process a request.

I do not sell personal information collected through this website or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Sensitive information is used to handle the requested services and related permitted operational or legal needs, rather than to build advertising profiles. Retention criteria appear in section 5.

2. Who receives information

Information may be disclosed to these categories of recipients when needed for the purposes described in this policy:

• Hosting, storage, security and technical-support providers. The website runs on ChatGPT Sites/OpenAI infrastructure and Cloudflare services. These services process website requests, booking records and uploaded files. Administrative access is restricted.
• Email and communications providers. Providers handling correspondence to or from ashi@mac.com process the messages they carry. When automatic email delivery is enabled, the site uses Resend to deliver requested rates, acknowledgments and booking notifications. Notifications can contain the contact and project details you submit; uploaded files are stored separately rather than attached by the booking system.
• People you authorize for an assignment. This may include your attorney, agency, court reporter, or an interpreter, translator, notary or delivery provider involved in services you request. Disclosure is limited to what is needed and is subject to applicable confidentiality obligations.
• Professional advisers and legally required recipients. Accountants, legal advisers, or public authorities may receive relevant information when needed to administer the practice, comply with law or valid legal process, or protect lawful rights and security.

I do not disclose website inquiry or client information to third parties for their own direct marketing. Service providers’ processing is also subject to their applicable terms and privacy notices. Provider information is available from OpenAI, Cloudflare, Apple and Resend.

Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where providers operate. This policy does not promise that all information remains in California or the United States. External sites you choose to visit have their own privacy practices.

3. Client materials & confidentiality

Client documents, recordings, identities, case details and communications are handled for the authorized assignment and its necessary administration, subject to professional duties, agreed confidentiality terms and applicable law. Submitting a request does not create an attorney–client relationship or independently establish attorney–client privilege.

Upload only materials you are authorized to provide. Remove unnecessary Social Security numbers, financial account details and other sensitive information. Do not submit passwords or payment-card credentials through the booking form.

If an NDA must be signed before information is disclosed, contact me first and wait for the signed agreement before uploading or describing confidential materials. Selecting the NDA checkbox does not itself sign an NDA or prevent the website’s hosting and storage providers from processing a submission.

Where an attorney, agency or other client directs my handling of information, requests concerning that client’s records may need to be coordinated with the client. Applicable confidentiality and preservation duties continue to apply.

4. Cookies & tracking choices

The website does not currently include advertising pixels, third-party visitor-analytics tags, session-replay tools, or social-media tracking widgets. Fonts and site images are served from the site itself. Its public forms do not use browser storage to save your entries between visits.

The hosting platform and its security or sign-in services may use cookies or similar technologies to operate and protect the site and maintain authorized administrative sessions. Administrators who sign in provide account identity information through the sign-in provider. Public visitors do not need to sign in to make an inquiry.

Do Not Track: The site does not change its behavior in response to the legacy browser “Do Not Track” signal. It does not itself track visitors’ activities over time across unrelated websites.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): GPC expresses a preference to opt out of sale or sharing for behavioral advertising. The site’s no-sale and no-advertising-sharing practice applies whether or not your browser sends this signal; there is no advertising sharing to turn off.

Other parties: Hosting, security and communications providers may collect technical information through this site and other services they operate, and may associate it with other information under their applicable privacy notices. I do not add tools that authorize third parties to track visitors across websites for advertising. When you leave this site or use an external service, that provider controls its own collection and tracking.

You can manage cookies through your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may affect security or sign-in features. Material changes to these practices will be disclosed as described in section 9.

5. Retention & security

Retention is based on the purpose of each record rather than a single fixed period:

• Inquiries, contact details and booking records: retained as needed to respond, arrange or perform services, maintain relevant correspondence, and address billing or disputes.
• Client materials, including sensitive information: retained as needed for evaluating or completing the assignment, agreed delivery and client instructions, and applicable professional, contractual or legal duties.
• Security, request and delivery records: retained as needed to prevent abuse, investigate failures and protect the service. Hosting and communications providers also maintain records under their own retention practices.

Legal preservation, tax, accounting or dispute obligations may require longer retention of relevant records. When information is no longer needed for the applicable purposes, it is to be deleted or de-identified. You may request deletion using the contact details below; deletion is subject to these obligations and any necessary handling of backup copies.

The site uses HTTPS, restricts the requests inbox to authorized administrators, and checks authorization before serving an uploaded document. Reasonable safeguards are used for the information handled, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Contact me before sending materials that require special handling.

6. Your privacy requests

To ask what personal information I hold about you, request a copy, correct it, request deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email ashi@mac.com with the subject “Privacy request.” You may also call (619) 339-8889. Describe your request and the email address or assignment associated with it. No website account is required.

I may verify your identity using information already associated with the request before disclosing, changing or deleting records. Provide only the information needed for verification; do not send identity documents unless specifically requested through an agreed method. An authorized representative may submit a request, with proof of authority where needed.

I will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any limitation, such as a legal preservation requirement, another person’s privacy, or an inability to verify a request. Requests to inspect or change information are handled through this contact process rather than an online account.

To stop promotional email from me, reply asking to unsubscribe or email the address above. Necessary communications about an active request or assignment may continue. Asking for rates or making a booking inquiry does not itself authorize unrelated promotional text messages.

7. California privacy rights

This policy provides disclosures about online collection, recipients, review and correction requests, policy changes and tracking choices under the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), applies to businesses meeting its statutory coverage requirements. Where it applies to my handling of your information, eligible California residents may request:

• Access to and a portable copy of personal information, including information about its categories, sources, purposes and disclosures.
• Correction of inaccurate personal information and deletion, subject to legal exceptions.
• An opt-out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and limits on certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information, where applicable.
• Non-discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Use the contact methods in section 6 to make a request. If the CCPA applies, requests to know, correct or delete are acknowledged within 10 business days and answered within 45 calendar days, with a further 45-day extension only as permitted and with notice. The website does not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising, including information about people under 16, or use sensitive information to infer advertising characteristics.

California’s “Shine the Light” law concerns certain disclosures to third parties for their own direct marketing. I do not make those disclosures of information collected through this website. You may direct related questions to the same contact address. The request process above is available even when a particular statute does not apply.

8. Children’s information

The website is intended for adults arranging professional services and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children under 13 through the website. An authorized adult may need to provide information about a minor for an assignment; that information is handled with the same confidentiality and limited-purpose protections. Contact me if you believe a child has submitted information directly so it can be reviewed and appropriately removed.

9. Changes to this policy

Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. For material changes, I will also provide a prominent notice on the website and, where appropriate, notify affected clients using the contact information available. Any additional notice or consent required by law will be provided before using previously collected information for a materially different purpose. Continued browsing is not treated as consent where affirmative consent is required.
